Muraaqib wins world richest race Sheikh Zayed Cup Jewel Crown
Belgian Bertiaux, Dane Toverud win HH Sheikha Fatima world titles
Friday’s finale of the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival turned out to be an action-packed race meeting with a lot of drama and excitement at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club racecourse.
It took a full 40 minutes after last year’s winner RB Burn crossed the finish line in the world’s richest race for Purebred Arabians that a Stewards verdict ruled in favour of second-placed Muraaqib.
The Eric Lemartinel – trained RB Burn under Gerald Avranche and the Francois Rohaut - Muraaqib under Jim Crowley battled stride for stride before the former finished first in the Euros 1.2 million Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Jewel Crown (Group 1) race

Sheikh Rashid Juma Al Maktoum wins Wathba Challenge
Sheikh Rashid Juma Al Maktoum riding Sail, a 9 year-old grey gelding won the 120-km Watbha Challenge Endurance ride organized by the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival at the Emirates International Endurance Village in Al Wathba, Abu Dhabi on Saturday, November 11.
Sheikh Rashid on Sail and Abdulla Ghanim Al Marri on Adjar Du Manba crossed the finish line hand-in-hand with a second separating the two after the 4-stage 120-km event which was attended by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai and Dubai Crown Prince HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, a few UAE Ambassadors, VIPs and over 800 guests from 88 countries who are here in the UAE capital for the grand finale of the Festival. |

Strong field contests world’s richest race for Arabian horses
Exciting racing on the cards in Festival’s finale today
The biggest race day of the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival’s annual calendar has arrived. With the ‘One World, Six Continents- Abu Dhabi the capital’ meeting having been deservedly moved to a Friday, the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club’s racecourse is expecting a record crowd on Friday, November 10, 2017 as some of the world’s top Purebred Arabian horses will be seen in action.
Last year’s winner RB Burn is back in contention for the Euros 1.2 million Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup Crown Jewel (Group 1) which is the world’s richest Purebred Arabian race. However the Eric Lemartinel–trained 5-year-old under French jockey Gerald Avranche will face a stiff challenge from a handful of serious contenders.

Festival announces first-ever Arabian race in China, HH Sheikha Lateefa International Pony series for 2018
The HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival will be making a debut in China in 2018 with a race in the Wathba Stallions series and that will herald the first-ever Purebred Arabian race in the Asian country.
At a press conference held at the Eastern Mangroves Anantara Hotel in the UAE capital on Wednesday, November 8, Ms. Lara Sawaya, Executive Director of the HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival, General Manager of Wathba Stallions, Chairperson of the Int’l Federation of Horse Racing Academies (IFHRA) and Chairperson of Ladies & Apprentice Racing Committees in the International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing Authorities (IFAHR) said the race in China will be one of the highlights of 2018.

Huge boost to Sheikh Mansoor’s Mentorship programme
17 students finish their stints in different countries
The International Federation of Horse Racing Academies, IFHRA, Mentorship Porgramme had a successful year in 2017 with 18 students getting an opportunity to make use of the Racing Scholarship Fund, RSF.
The initiative, which falls under the umbrella of His Highness Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival, helps provide professional mentorship opportunities for students outside their countries. These students are either currently enrolled in or have recently graduated from an IFHRA member Racing Academy or national representative. |
