Montashir crowned champion of Aseel International Cup in Germany

Germany 2014 concluded

Under the patronage of the HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, the three-day events of the Aseel International Purebred Arabian Horse Cup Germany 2014 was concluded. The events were held in Kassel, Germany from August 22 to 24, 2014. The move comes within the keenness of His Highness to support and encourage the Arabian horse races in line with the privileged position enjoyed by the equestrian sport in the UAE.

The purebred Arabian Montashir was crowned champion of the Aseel International Purebred Arabian horse Cup during the closing ceremony.

He Jumaa Al Junaibi, UAE ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany crowned the winning jockey and presented the trophy which is a piece of artwork from the 19th century. The closing ceremony was attended by the Count Fernand Castle, Dr. George Holmes, Chairman of Aseel International Purebred Arabian Horses Club, Dr Abdulla Rayes Director General of the National Archive, Abdelmohsen Dosari from the General Yourh and Sports Authority Welfare, Matar Al Yabhouni president of the Abu Dhabi Horse Racing Committee and member of the board of Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Adnan Al Nuaimi General manager of Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club, Lara Sawaya Executive Director HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival, Mubarak Al Nuaimi Director of Overseas Promotion TCA Abu Dhabi, Ahmad Al Fahim Executive Director Marketing and Investment TDIC, Abdulla Al Tamimi, Hamad Al Zaabi and Ali Al Mazrouei from the Ministry of Presidential Affairs,  besides a number of German officials and persons involved in horses industry around the globe.

HE Jumaa Al Junaibi praised the success of the outstanding events and expressed his pleasure for organising of this event in Germany under the generous patronage of the HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, for Purebred Arabians to underline the civilized and bright image of the UAE and to promote of this noble creature.

Al Junaibi hailed the successful organization and the varieties of the events.  He said: “Equestrian is a noble sport which deserves encouragement and attention as it transplants smart values into individuals and the society as well as it provides opportunities for interaction between the culture and civilizations of the people.
Meanwhile, Dr. George Holmes, chairman of the Aseel International Purebred Arabian Horses Club, hailed the great support which is provided by the HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat racing Festival to boost the efforts of the equine sport. He said: “This great support boosts the international equine sport in accordance with a brilliant plan to upgrade the profile of the discipline. I wish you every success to make the best of this success and build on it for the future.”

Dr Abdulla Rayes Director General of the National Archive, hailed the Aseel International Cup which is held under the generous patronage of HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his encouragement and patronage of such events is part of his care of the Arabian horses that have achieved international repute in races and shows.

HE Abdelmohsen Dosari assistant secretary general of the General Youth and Sports Authority Welfare, praised the development and progress of the UAE equestrian during the recent few years and its support to the sport around the globe.

HE Matar Al Yabhouni underlined the importance of promoting the equine culture and the ways of horses handling to expand the attention to include the young generations. He thanked HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan for supporting and encouraging the horse races to cope with the high profile of the sport in the UAE.

Lara Sawaya, Executive Director HH Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival and Chairman of Ladies Racing Committee in the International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing Authorities (IFAHR) praised the initiative of HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs to support the slice of Purebred Arabian horses and heritage races to serve the interest of the Arabian horse and increase the attention of the Purebred Arabians through the Aseel Cup which includes a number of mixed horse races.

“Such sport is an added value for the heritage sports related to the Purebred Arabians including the endurance qualifiers for 36, 63 and 84km besides the riding styles, dressage, western riding style, falcon, Salukis, which would culminate with the Aseel Cup in Kessel.

“This event was used to be held under the patronage of late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in the early nineties. The organization was excellent and the surroundings are charming in addition to the historic castle. It was really an exceptional and brilliant event which adds a lot to the heritage festivals,” she said.

Adnan Sultan, director general of the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club thanked HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan for renewing patronage to the Aseel Cup which is a continuation to the patronage of late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan since the early nineties.

Mosallam Al Amri expressed his great gratitude and appreciation for HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the brilliant initiative to support and patrons the Aseel Cup.

This year’s events of the Aseel Purebred Arabians Cup focused on the outstanding performance of the Purebred Arabian horses and the winners were elected by international judges. The events included 36km, 63km and 84km alongside horse riding, dressage and western styles of riding.

The events contained exciting shows for the different free styles and dressage concurrently with the horses reining and provided a good opportunity for social communication and a Purebred Arabian horse show which contains handcrafts and arts as well as Salukis, Falcons and Camels.

The events culminated with the Aseel International Cup 2014 under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The trophy will be awarded to the winning horse of the show alongside the winners of the mares and stallions categories of the Aseel Cup. Additional prizes would be presented to the outstanding riders in the show, particularly in the saddled horses’ show which reveal the unique characteristics and features of the Purebred Arabian horses. The winners in the various categories and competitions would be voted by international judges.
