Preparations completed for
HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Lady Jockeys Championship

All preparations are well in place at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club to host the final leg of HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship (IFAHR) and the HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak EARS Apprentice Jockey Cup on Sunday, it was announced on Thursday (November 8).

“We are proud as organisers of HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival to welcome all participants in the two events and our valuable guests, partners and sponsors in Abu Dhabi, the capital of women equestrian sports,” Lara Sawaya, director the HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival and head of IFAHR ladies racing told newsmen at the Eastern Mangrove Hotel, the official hotel of the festival.

The HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Flat Racing Festival which is organized by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority and co-ordinated by Abu Dhabi Sports Council in association with Emirates Racing Authority, IFAHR and Emirates Arabian Horse Society, supported by General Authority for Youth and Sports Welfare and Fegentri with Emira tes airlines as the official carrier and sponsored by Invest AD, Al Rashid Investment, Areej Al Ameerat, Mauzan, Al Awani General Enterprises, Kabale, the UAE's General Women's Union, the HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy, Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition 2012, Dr. Nader Saab Switzerland, Wathba Stud Farm and Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club.

The press conference was also attended by top officials including Ebrahim Abdulmalik, secretary general of the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare, Yasser Mabrouk, representing ERA, the governing authority of UAE horse races and other officials representing the partners and sponsors.

“This event is very big, and we are delighted to bri ng young jockeys from 12 countries around the globe to compete under the umbrella of the festival in our beautiful city,” she added.

“Under the directives of HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, we will have something of great magnitude to be held next year, the EARS Conference which carries the name of HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Mother of the UAE, and we would like to thank Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club for providing the suitable venue in its new look where the youngsters showcase their talents,” she said.

In addition to the exceptional opening ceremony, the racing day will be associated by other events to keep the faithful fans entertained a ll the way.

“We have provided a special castle for the children to keep them busy while their parents are watching the race. Lebanese artists and designers will show their products and artworks from ten stands. Jewelries to be shown for the first time will be on display.

“Special seating for distinguished guests, visitors, families and members of the public are clearly marked and will be strictly observed and adhered to,” she added.

Regarding the prize-money for the winners, and under the directives of HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the top three finishers in the ladie s competition will share AED 100.000 in cash, and as well, the top three finishers in the apprentice competition will share AED 50.000.

“As regards the 70 lady jockeys who were invited for the final and will not be riding, four lucky winners will walk away with AED 25.000 each to be drawn after the final race. All the lady jockeys who took part in the previous nine races are eligible to enter the draw,” she confirmed.

Special honour for Sheikhas
“We have been directed by Shaikh Mansour to honour the Shaikhas who have been looking aft er the Arabian horse during the Gala Dinner at the Emirates Palace.
They are:
1 – Sheikha Alyazia bint Zayed Al Nahyan, 2 – Sheikha Fatima bint Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, 3 – Sheikha Alyazia bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, 4 – Sheikha Hassah bint Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, 5 – Sheikha Fatima bint Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, 6 – Sheikha Shamma bint Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan and 7 – Sheikha Fatima bint Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Sudanese community honoured:
According to Lara Sawaya, the organisers were directed by HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan to honour the Sudanese community in recognition of its role in supporting horse races within the UAE.
“A special prize-money of AED 20.000 will be drawn among the attending members of the Sudanese community. The first winner will claim the first prize of AED 10.000 while other ten lucky winners will have AED 1.000 each. This is in addition to special coupons for free meals throughout the 15 racing days at Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club,” she said.
